I love Bimini!

“Over a decade we have owned property here and seen the tourism grow substantially. In 2022 we noticed a substantial amount of repairs needed to public schools, the medical clinic, training center, and tourist attractions. Our beaches and roads are deteriorating since the increase in traffic. Our goal is to make an impact to improve the quality of life for the people visiting and living on our precious island for generations to come. Community Projects completed have already touched the lives of hundreds and we are committed to continuing our efforts. “, Lisa Grunow, President.

Our Wish List for 2024-2025

  • OUR LADY’S ANGLICAN CHURCH REPAIRS

  • GATEWAY CHRISTIAN ACADEMY REPAIRS

  • BAY FRONT PARK RENOVATION

  • CONTINUED SUPPORT OF SCHOOLS FOR EDUCATION

  • EMERGENCY RELIEF FUNDS FOR CATASTROPHIC LOSS

  • FIRE DEPARTMENT TRAINING AND GEAR

I love Bimini!

While the “twin islands” only populate approximately 2,500 people, we see over 900,000 people a year from cruise ships, airlines, and boaters. The island is only 50 miles from Miami, a 30-minute flight or 2-3 hours by boat.
If not fishing or diving, visitors can enjoy everything the island has to offer in a day by golf cart, ferry, tram, or taxi as it is only 9 sq. miles.
It's a destination for everyone, our small island has an incredible history, culture, and strong community that welcomes you wholeheartedly.
Bimini Community Foundation, Inc. United States non-profit organization, officially recognized by IRS as a Section 501(c)(3) organization for Federal income tax purposes was established in 2023 by a group of women homeowners in Bimini Bay. Lisa Grunow, Teresa Vanderhoeven, Terri DeGross, and Rebecca Blissett. They were concerned when a school teacher reached out for assistance with books and other items for her 4th-grade class. After visiting the Primary School, they witnessed the state the school was in and BCF was created out of their desire to help.
After meeting with the principal and Island Administrator, a “wish list” was started. A GOFUNDME account was created in March 2023 for the Primary School repairs and educational tools. Those donations made it possible to complete necessary upgrades and created work for local contractors/outside experts. We are happy to report that in August we were able to complete numerous renovations. We are excited to see the children’s faces when they return to school to play on the new artificial turf and use the renovated computer lab/library. Continued work at the Bayfront park will be completed by December. The indoor facility overlooking the field will be a wonderful space to view all the sports events from baseball, tennis and basketball.

We envision an equitable and vibrant BIMINI where all of our island community can thrive.
Our Board brings knowledge and sensitivity to Bimini's challenges. BCF is providing invaluable stewardship to build a sustainable future for Bimini.
